Throughout my life I’ve chased things. Lot’s of things and I’ve expected that in attaining or acquiring those things, I would be satisfied. Not so. It took a while to figure out and I still find myself chasing things that are fleeting and temporal. Why? I’m made to pursue joy, to pursue pleasure. I’m programmed that way. But it seems that I get confused about what it is that will actually bring me that pleasure or that joy. I settle for substandard things. I get distracted.
We all have pursuits. some good. some bad. At this site you will see some of mine displayed. technology, 3D, work, family, health, wealth. But none of them fully satisfy or end the craving for more. That is why this site exists, that I can continue to remind myself that God is the ultimate pursuit, the ultimate treasure. Not that I can attain or acquire Him, but that He is the most beautiful thing in the Universe, the most powerful, an infinite being of power and perfection. There is where my treasure should reside, with God, in God. Anything else falls short.
So I will live my life and I will have pursuits and I will have failures and I will have Joys, but none will be as great or as thrilling or as satisfying as the pursuit of knowing God and at the end of this life, entering His rest. May that be my pursuit of all pursuits, to know Him more and to know Him well, that I might be a good and faithful servant, that I might be called… a friend of God.
