well, december came and went. a trip to Korea and another 2 months have gone by that “the treehouse” has not yet been completed.  there has been progress too.  and bunny trails.  and divergent interests of a struggling renaissancian (my own word for my malady).

Today’s topic of the bubbling brook is concept art.  A good story is nothing without concept art.  So, I needed to sort of figure out a vehicle concept that I have.  It is called the airchar. think air chariot.  remember, I said this was a divergence, something I got sidetracked on while daydreaming.

notice the lines for perspective.  this is just a sketch.  I did it in about 10 minutes.  The really neat thing is that I did it all digitally, that is, on the computer, no real pen or paper or scanning.  It looks hand drawn.  and to some extent, it is.  but not with lead or ink or paper or even a ruler.  No this is not an advertisement for green.  I’m not saving the world or intending to by using my computer for drawing.  the computer is my medium.  after all these years, I have come to that.  and after all these year, the technology is there to make it true, somewhat.  what could I do with more time?  probably a lot, but more likely, I should get back to writing my book.

we’ll see what comes out next.  maybe something like this…

… I really don’t want to meet him in a dark alley… or possibly this either…

dragonhead1Danger is on the horizon… I can tell…

or maybe just X-MAN… Xander’s alter ego… though he won’t admit it…

then there is always the troop transport that needs to be worked into something more formal…troop-transport001

or my strange bird character…

well, that’s all in the queue for now.  you’ll have to wait to see where these all fit.  not in tree house, but in general…  all these were done digitally, on my computer, using sketchbook pro 2010 and my cintiq 12ux from wacom.  most in a just a few free moments of time between the larger tasks and responsibilities of a father of 4.  hopefully these musings will entertain them some day as they emerge in stories and books that are written for them.

onward.upward.
